Pr Elias Joseph was born on 19th of August 1963 to Dr. T M Joseph and Dr Mrs Saumini Joseph, who were both serving on the staff of the Christian Medical College Vellore South India as  Lecturer in the Department of  Surgery and as Registrar in the Department of Medicine, respectively.

He had his schooling initially at the “Vidyabhavan” at CMC Vellore and later at the F.A.C.T Udyogamandal school Kalamassery Kerala. He joined the Regional Engineering College in Jamshedpur Bihar for the B. Tech course in Mechanical Engineering in the year 1982, which he successfully completed, and graduated in the year 1986.

After graduation Pr Elias joined the the staff of the Engineering Department of MV Doulos, of the OM International where he served for a period of seven months.  After this period he worked as Service engineer, at the Engineering Department of the Christian Medical College Vellore for a period of three years.

In the year 1990, the family moved to Kerala, and Pr Elias joined the staff of OEN Connectors, at Mulanthuruthy as a Research Engineer. Through all these years of his secular professional life, Pr Elias was actively engaged in Gospel work

In the year 1994 he resigned from his position from the engineering staff of the OEN and took to full time Missionary work. Initially for a period of two years he travelled as an apprentice with the well known Evangelist..Dr P.C Verghese.

In the year 1996 He started a church – The Shammah Tabernacle” - in Ernakulam Kerala South India. He has continued as the Pastor of the Church since then until the present date. Pr Elias has undergone leadership training sponsored by the Haggai Institute In Hawaii in the year 2006.

"The Shammah Tabernacle"has an average of 150 attendees every sunday. There is a an active Youth wing, and a choir group who actively participate in all activities of the Church.. In addition there are regular. Weekly prayer meetings, Outreach programs, Bible study sessions in English and Malayalam, and Sunday school sessions every week. The church has expanded in the past 10 years with establishment of satellite churches in Kothamangalm, and Muvattupuzha,in Kerala. A third church is due to start in a few months in Kakkanad-Ernakulam, Kerala.

Pr Elias is married to Dr. Anna Elias,. Dr Anna is a Consultant Ophthalmologist, currently employed at the Giridhar Eye Institute in Ernakulam. Kerala.They have one daughter--Esther Elias, who is a Journalist, now serving the British council in Chennai South India as a Lecturer, and English teacher. She is married to Sam Koshy, who is employed by the Tata Consultancy Services in Chennai, as a Human resources consultant.

Pr Elias Joseph is also a gifted musician and a composer of Gospel music.. He has composed many Music CD albums, of which the most popular are... "Ephatha", and "Born Again". Pr Elias continues to serve the Lord faithfully and has proved to be blessing to the community who turn to this Church for Spiritual guidance and nurture.
